Brickell Avenue Bridge, Road bridge in Downtown Miami, US.
Brickell Avenue Bridge is a drawbridge crossing the Miami River in downtown Miami with six vehicle lanes and pedestrian paths on both sides. The structure connects the northern and southern sides of the city over the waterway.
The bridge was built in 1929 and underwent complete reconstruction, with the modern version finished in 1995. An extra northbound lane was added years later.
The bridge displays bronze monuments honoring Miami's founding figures. Visitors notice these artworks on the supporting piers as they cross.
The bridge opens for boat traffic during daytime hours but stays closed during morning and afternoon rush periods. Pedestrians can usually move freely and are less affected by these operating schedules.
A large bronze monument called Pillar of History displays over 150 figures telling the story of the Tequesta Indians. This detailed artwork shares stories about the region's original inhabitants.
