Resorts World Miami
Resorts World Miami is a proposed mixed-use development featuring three towers each around 60 stories tall, reaching approximately 645 feet (197 meters) in height. The design includes curved glass facades and a large footprint intended to house residential units, hotels, retail spaces, and entertainment venues.
The site once held the Miami Herald headquarters, a building erected in the early 1960s and demolished around 2014 and 2015. Genting Group acquired the land in 2011 and first filed plans in 2017, but that approval expired in 2020 and was resubmitted later.
The name comes from Genting Group's global branding of integrated resort projects, which it operates in multiple countries. The proposed site sits next to the waterfront and would become a focal point for entertainment and high-rise living, significantly changing the character of the surrounding neighborhood.
Construction has not started, so the area remains vacant and is not accessible for visits. Those interested in urban development can view the site from nearby public streets or from the waterfront around the Omni District.
The project includes plans to extend Miami's monorail system to Miami Beach, making travel between the two areas faster for residents and visitors. A portion of this extension has already been approved and would span about 4 miles (6.5 kilometers), significantly improving access to the area.
