Four Winds, Historical high-rise building in Central Business District, New Orleans, US
The Four Winds is a high-rise building in New Orleans' Central Business District featuring nineteen floors of residential and commercial spaces. Located at 210 Baronne Street, the structure combines historical architecture with modern amenities including a rooftop pool and fitness center.
Designed by architect Emile Weil in 1927, the structure initially served as headquarters for Canal Bank and Trust. It was later converted into a mixed-use residential and commercial building while preserving its original framework.
The building displays original 1920s design elements such as Tennessee marble and brass fixtures that reflect the aesthetic of that era in New Orleans. These details remain visible today in the shared spaces and hallways, reminding visitors of the craftsmanship of that time.
The building is easily accessible by public transportation and located within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The modern apartments feature contemporary furnishings and are equipped with technology such as high-speed internet connections.
During the 2014 renovation, original heart of pine wood floors from the building's early days were preserved and integrated alongside contemporary facilities like a screening room. This blend of old and new shows how the structure honors its past while moving forward.
