Pan American Life Center, Office high-rise in Central Business District, New Orleans, United States
Pan American Life Center is a high-rise office building in New Orleans' Central Business District with 28 floors and a granite exterior. The complex includes retail spaces, restaurants, a multi-level parking garage, and a conference center with an auditorium.
Designed in 1980 by the renowned firm Skidmore Owings Merrill, this building was created as headquarters for Pan-American Life Insurance Company. The ownership changed hands in 2006 when it was sold to Equastone.
This building occupies the site of the former Liberty Theatre, marking when New Orleans transformed its entertainment venues into modern office spaces. Walking through the lobby today, you can sense this shift from the city's theatrical past to its present business identity.
The complex offers multiple parking levels which makes finding a space straightforward, and ground-floor restaurants for dining options. It sits in an easily walkable area of the business district with good street-level access.
The building connects directly to the InterContinental Hotel through an internal passage, even though they have separate ownership. This connection creates a seamless complex that serves both business travelers and hotel guests.
