Kenneth S. Norris Rancho Marino Reserve, Protected coastal area in San Luis Obispo County, California, US.
The reserve spans 500 acres along the central California coast, featuring coastal scrub, grasslands, marine environments, and Monterey pine forests at elevations up to 700 feet.
The land belonged to Rancho Santa Rosa, granted by the Mexican governor in 1841, before joining the University of California Natural Reserve System in 2001.
Archaeological evidence indicates Native Californians gathered shellfish, fished, and collected acorns in this area for over 5,000 years.
The reserve provides research facilities including a kitchen area, outdoor showers, and accommodation for up to 40 campers, located 2.5 hours from UC Santa Barbara.
The reserve contains one of California's three remaining original Monterey pine forests and intersects with the San Andreas Fault Zone between two major fault lines.
