Phantasy Theater, Entertainment venue in Lakewood, United States

Phantasy Theater is an entertainment venue featuring multiple performance spaces, including a main concert hall and an elevated stage area on Detroit Avenue. The building holds approximately 800 seats and preserves its original architectural character.

The complex opened in 1918 as the Homestead Theater and showed films until 1979; it was also known at one point as the Detroit Theater and, between 1976 and 1977, as The Last Picture Show. John De Frasia bought the complex in 1965 and ran a restaurant, Piccadilly Square, inside it. In the 1980s the theater was renamed the Phantasy and turned to alternative, goth and industrial rock.

The Chamber dance club opened in 1996 under DJ Cable and Michele De Frasia, becoming a local gathering point for alternative, goth and industrial subcultures. Area figures such as Andy Kubiszewski, Marilyn Manson, Kevin McMahon, Larry Szyms and Textbeak frequented it. The complex's walls carry early new wave posters and stickers from most bands that played there.

The complex sits on Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, near the Cleveland border, and holds four spaces: the Phantasy Nite Club, The Chamber, Symposium and the Phantasy Theater. The pirate ship inside serves as DJ booth on one side and sound stage on the other, so check which room an event uses before arriving. A fire swept through the complex in 2010, and ownership passed to West 117 Development Phantasy LLC in July 2020 as part of Studio West 117.
