The Tank

The Tank is a theatrical venue housed within a larger building in Midtown West, containing two separate performance spaces of different sizes and capacities. The smaller black box theater holds around 56 spectators while the larger proscenium theater accommodates approximately 98 people, with additional studios supporting rehearsal and creative work.

The venue was established in 2003 and took its name from three large windows facing the street that resembled a fishtank. Since then it has developed into a significant space for experimental artists working in the city.

The venue draws artists working across theater, dance, music, and experimental forms, creating a space where emerging voices can be heard alongside established performers. This mix of styles and creators shapes how the spaces feel on any given night.

The entrance is located at the rear of the building and requires using the back elevator to access the theater. Plan extra time to locate the correct entrance and navigate through the building corridors.

Artists perform without paying rental fees and instead share the revenue from ticket sales with the venue. This arrangement allows independent creators to present their work and benefit directly from audience attendance.
