Sarawak Chamber

Sarawak Chamber is a vast underground limestone cavern in Gunung Mulu National Park that opens into a single enormous space with a soaring ceiling. Access requires traveling through river passages and narrow passages that connect from the Good Luck Cave entrance.

British explorers discovered this underground chamber during an expedition in 1981, revealing a previously unknown massive void in the mountain's interior. The find expanded understanding of how large natural cave systems could actually become.

The chamber exists within Gunung Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site that represents Malaysian geological and natural inheritance.

Visiting this chamber requires a trained local guide since reaching it demands climbing skills and comfort in underground environments. The journey takes several hours and involves challenging physical passages, so come prepared with appropriate footwear and stamina.

The space is so enormous that an entire sports stadium could fit inside it with room to spare, making it larger than any single enclosed sports venue. Despite its immense scale, it remains relatively unknown to most people outside scientific circles because it sits beyond typical tourist routes.
