Cyberjaya, Technology hub in Sepang District, Malaysia
Cyberjaya is a technology-focused town in Sepang District that combines office buildings, research facilities, residential neighborhoods and green spaces across a large area. The wide roads lead to modern building complexes and lower residential blocks spread between gardens and artificial lakes.
The town emerged in the late 1990s as part of a government project to create a center for digital economy and innovation. The first companies moved in during the early 2000s, while residential areas and educational institutions developed over the following years.
The research institutions and universities bring young graduates and company employees into the cafés, parks and shared spaces, making the town feel like a campus. Daytime sees plenty of activity, while evenings tend to be quieter as many residents live outside the center and use the town for work and study.
Public transport runs regularly, but having a vehicle makes moving between the widely spaced districts much easier. Walking paths and bike lanes connect residential areas to parks and shopping centers, with shaded sections helpful during hot weather.
The lakes and parks serve not only as green spaces but also as a stormwater retention system that reduces flooding in the region. Joggers and walkers use the waterfront paths in the mornings and evenings when temperatures become more comfortable.
