Istana Bandar

Istana Bandar is a royal palace in Jugra situated on a hillside spanning about 13 acres, designed with Palladian architectural elements and overlooking the Klang River. The museum displays specific sections of the former palace filled with royal artifacts and ceremonial items.

The palace was built in 1928 by Chinese millionaire Chan Wing and later served as residence for Japanese governors during the occupation from 1942 to 1945. This period left a lasting impact on the building's story.

The Balai Rong Seri throne room in the East Wing displays traditional Malay craftsmanship through detailed ornamental designs and architectural elements. Visitors can observe how these spaces were arranged for royal ceremonies.

Visitors should note the palace is situated on a hillside with multiple steps required for entry, so appropriate footwear is recommended. Take time to explore the various wings and rooms at a leisurely pace.

The palace is crowned by twenty-two domes illuminated in different colors that change based on events taking place inside. This luminous feature makes the building particularly striking when viewed at dusk.
