Hotel de turistas de Arequipa, Cultural heritage hotel in Arequipa, Peru
Hotel de Turistas de Arequipa is an accommodation building with dynamic architecture located in the Alto Selva Alegre district at Plaza Bolivar. A small tower near the entrance marks the design, and the building combines functional hotel spaces with organized landscaping.
The hotel opened in October 1940 as the first completed project from the National Hotel Infrastructure Plan of 1938 with 40 rooms. It became part of a nationwide effort to develop the tourism sector.
The building shows regional building styles with rooms arranged like a traditional hacienda, surrounded by green spaces and gardens. The layout reflects the architectural language common to this area.
The site is centrally located at Plaza Bolivar and easy for visitors to reach. It is managed today by Wyndham and Costa del Sol and offers accommodation services.
The building was officially recognized as a Historical Monument of Peru through a resolution in 1989. This designation honored its value as an early example of the country's modern hotel architecture.
