Jumeirah Beach Hotel, hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Jumeirah Beach Hotel is a large building with a distinctive wave shape standing directly on a wide sandy beach in Dubai. It contains nearly 600 rooms and suites, more than 20 dining and drinking establishments, five swimming pools of different sizes, and a private beach area with loungers and umbrellas.
The hotel opened in December 1997 and was among the tallest buildings in Dubai at that time, standing about 93 meters high. The site it occupies was formerly known as Chicago Beach, named after a company that operated floating oil tanks there before Dubai's rapid growth led to the land being reclaimed for new development.
The name Jumeirah refers to the area where the hotel sits, and it anchors visitor life to this beachfront location where people spend time by the water. The wave-shaped building and its position on the sand create a space where guests directly experience the connection between modern construction and the natural seashore.
The hotel sits directly on the beach and offers easy access to the water as well as to the adjacent Wild Wadi Water Park, available to guests. Orientation is straightforward because the distinctive wave design makes it easy to spot the location from the beach or street and to quickly find different areas such as pools, restaurants, and the sand.
The hotel has a private beach area of approximately 33,000 square meters, giving guests ample space to relax and swim. This large private beach zone is uncommon for hotels in Dubai and allows visitors to spend extended time near the water without feeling crowded.
