Cuanza Norte Province

The province extends over 24,190 square kilometers of varied terrain, from dense tropical forests to expansive savannas along the northern bank of Cuanza River.

The territory transformed from a part of the Ngola Kingdom into an administrative district in 1914, before its division into Cuanza Norte and Cuanza Sul in 1917.

The Mbundu people represent the main population group in Cuanza Norte Province, with Kimbundu serving as the primary local language throughout the region.

N'dalatando, the provincial capital, contains administrative offices, educational institutions, and markets that supply goods to the surrounding municipalities.

The Capanda Dam stretches 1,400 meters across the province, generating hydroelectric power from the waters of the Cuanza River for the surrounding regions.
