Monument of the Unknown Soldier

Monument of the Unknown Soldier is a military memorial located on Avenida 4 de Fevereiro in Luanda, Angola, positioned along the waterfront. The structure consists of 16 interwoven metal pieces rising 23 meters high with a 50-meter ramp and a golden star flame at its center.

This memorial was completed in September 2017 and stands between the Angola Post Office and Naval Command. It marks the sacrifices of unidentified soldiers who have fallen defending the country since 1961.

The memorial brings together citizens and officials for commemorative gatherings to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. These regular ceremonies create a space where people from different backgrounds unite in shared respect and remembrance.

The memorial is located in downtown Luanda and easily visible from the waterfront due to its prominent placement along the shore. The open design and broad ramp make it accessible for visiting, with good views of the surrounding area.
