Igreja de Jesus Sé Catedral, Catholic cathedral in Ingombota District, Luanda, Angola.
Igreja de Jesus Sé Catedral is a Catholic cathedral in Luanda featuring a rectangular layout with a central nave and three entrance doors. Two bell towers with pyramidal spires frame the main facade and define the building's appearance.
Construction of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios Church began in 1651 and finished in 1679 under Bishop Manuel da Natividade. Major restoration work between 1880 and 1900 created the current facade with three doors and a curved pediment.
Local merchants and residents built this church to establish a place of worship in lower Luanda. It serves as a spiritual center where the community gathers for religious ceremonies and celebrations.
The cathedral is easily accessible and located in a central area of the city with nearby parking. Visitors should wear modest clothing and check opening times before attending religious services.
The cathedral is also known as Nossa Senhora dos Remedios, a name referring to its patron saint. Many older residents still use this traditional name, even though the official designation has changed over time.
