Club Hípico de Santiago

Club Hípico de Santiago is a horse racing facility in Chile's capital with a 2,400-meter turf track that curves to the right. Surrounding the track are gardens, fountains, and ponds, while a large multi-level building overlooks the races and provides space for spectators and events.

The facility opened in 1869 and became a major racing venue in the country. A fire in 1892 destroyed the original wooden structure, prompting the construction of a new building that was completed between 1918 and 1923.

This venue has served as a gathering place for Santiago's prominent social circles since its founding, where people come to watch racing and socialize. The traditions of horsemanship and sport competition remain woven into how locals and visitors experience the place today.

Racing events take place on Fridays, alternate Mondays, and select Sundays, with about 18 races held on each day. The facility has multiple viewing areas for spectators, so arriving early helps secure a good spot, and it's worth checking the calendar ahead of your visit.

The venue hosts the Clásico El Ensayo, one of South America's oldest and longest-running horse races, which still takes place annually. This competition draws participants and spectators from across the continent, reflecting the facility's regional importance in equestrian sport.
