Fantasilandia, Amusement park in O'Higgins Park, Santiago, Chile
Fantasilandia is a theme park inside Parque O'Higgins in Santiago offering more than 40 rides for all ages. The installations range from high-speed roller coasters to gentler carousels and spread across multiple themed zones with food stands and seating areas.
The park opened in January 1978 with eight initial attractions and became the largest facility of its kind in Chile. The site expanded over the following decades and added new roller coasters and themed zones regularly.
The name comes from the Spanish word for fantasy, marking the place as an escape into imagination for visitors of all ages. Families from across the city come here during summer school breaks and use the park for day trips with children.
Entry happens through the main gate on the western side of Parque O'Higgins and most rides allow children above certain height requirements. Waiting times at popular roller coasters are longer on weekends and during national holidays than on weekdays.
The roller coaster Raptor from 2008 suspends riders below the track and flips them upside down several times during the ride. The system reaches around 50 miles per hour (80 kilometers per hour) and is one of only two installations of this type on the South American continent.
