Punta Hermosa

Punta Hermosa is a coastal district in Lima Province that stretches along the Pacific Ocean with multiple sandy beaches and residential neighborhoods. The area is organized into several population centers connected by the Pan-American Highway, creating a linear settlement pattern along the shore.

The district was established in 1954 as local communities transformed a seasonal beach destination into a permanent settlement. Growth accelerated with improved infrastructure and easier access from Lima, reshaping the area into a residential zone.

Local residents maintain maritime traditions through annual festivals and events, while the district serves as a center for Peruvian coastal culture.

The district lies about 42 kilometers from Lima and is easily accessible via the Pan-American Highway. The various settlements are spread across the coast but remain relatively compact for local travel.

The beaches here generate consistent waves year-round, making them a natural meeting point for surfing competitions and water sports activities. This reliable wave pattern has drawn athletes and enthusiasts who practice these sports regularly.
