Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas - ESPE is a public university in Sangolquí, Pichincha, occupying about 50 hectares with modern buildings, green areas, and wide pathways throughout the grounds. The campus includes the Alejandro Segovia Library, sports facilities, a large coliseum for events, and research centers focused on biotechnology, energy, food security, and nanotechnology.
The institution was founded in 1922 as a military engineering school to train army officers in military technology and techniques. Through the decades the institution changed names multiple times, eventually becoming the Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas in 2013 after merging several institutions together.
