Mar del Plata railway and bus station, train and bus station in Argentina
Mar del Plata railway and bus station is a large transportation hub in the city center that handles both trains and buses. The modern building features a spacious main hall with ticket counters, over forty bus bays, train tracks at the rear, and food vendors and shops throughout.
The original station opened in 1886 when the city was becoming a popular destination for wealthy visitors from Buenos Aires, with rail service making it easier to reach the coast. The current facility replaced the old station in 2009 with a new, spacious building designed by architect Claudio Luis Lucarelli, located at the corner of Avenida Luro and San Juan.
The station can be accessed from the corner of Avenida Luro and San Juan, with parking available nearby for about 70 vehicles. Buses to nearby destinations depart from 9 de Julio street, making it easier for passengers to find their specific line.
