The monastery began construction in 1998 when four monks from Grand Chartreuse selected the Campo de la Trinidad area for the new foundation.
The monastery follows Carthusian traditions established by Saint Bruno in 1084, focusing on solitude and prayer in individual cells.
The monastery maintains strict protocols regarding visitation, and interested persons need to contact the administration beforehand to arrange any visits.
This religious complex stands as the third Carthusian monastery in the Americas and the second established in Latin America.
