Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Rosario

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Rosario is a colonial religious building constructed from stone and limestone with buttresses and brick decorative elements. A barrel vault extends outward from the main structure to create a sheltered portico at the entrance.

Construction began in 1706 on land provided by the López de Ayala brothers, with support from local residents and other contributors. The church served as a religious center for the early settlement of this region.

The interior showcases skilled local craftsmanship, particularly in the carved pulpit decorated with two-headed eagles and lions. Religious imagery here blends European and American artistic traditions in ways that reflect the region's mixed heritage.

The building is located within the settlement of Ischilín, situated away from major highways. The nearest significant city reference point is Córdoba, which lies at a considerable distance from the site.

An ancient carob tree grows beside the church, having stood there for over four centuries. This tree and the large adjacent plaza together define the character and gathering space of this location.
