Incahuasi

Incahuasi is a dormant stratovolcano in the Andes rising above 6,600 meters in elevation. The mountain displays two volcanic peaks and a wide caldera surrounded by distinctive high terrain.

The mountain formed through volcanic activity spanning roughly one and a half million years. Smaller cones on the northeastern side produced lava flows that shaped the surrounding terrain.

An Inca ceremonial structure sits at the summit, marking the mountain's role in indigenous spiritual practices. Visitors can still see traces of this ancient reverence woven into the landscape.

This region is dry with limited rainfall, mostly falling as snow during winter months. Visitors should prepare for extreme altitude conditions and harsh weather.

An extensive lava dome rises on the eastern flank, while the crater itself forms a striking deep basin. This shows how volcanic forces worked differently across the mountain.
