Reserva de la biosfera Yabotí, Natural reserve in Misiones, Argentina.
The Yabotí Biosphere Reserve is a large protected area in Misiones Province that preserves subtropical forest landscapes with diverse wildlife. The region spans multiple zones and provides habitat for many animal and plant species native to this humid subtropical region.
The reserve received UNESCO Biosphere status in 1995, establishing protected status for the Paraná Forest region. This international recognition supports sustainable management and species preservation across the area.
The reserve integrates multiple protected zones including the Guaraní Forest Reserve and the Papel Misionero Cultural Nature Reserve, supporting local indigenous communities.
The best time to visit is between April and November when water levels allow viewing of the waterfalls. Access is through the town of El Soberbio, from where trails and guided tours lead into the different protected areas.
Within the reserve sits Moconá Falls, which runs about 1,900 meters along a canyon wall. This unusual formation, where water cascades run parallel to the river course, is a remarkable natural feature found nowhere else.
