Farroupilha Park, Urban park in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Farroupilha Park is a large green space in central Porto Alegre bordered by several major avenues. The park features a lake with paddle boat rentals, playgrounds for children, an auditorium, and multiple garden areas with different tree species.
The land was donated to Porto Alegre in 1807 by Paulo José da Silva Gama, originally used as a cattle field. In 1935, it was transformed into the public park that exists today.
The Brique da Redenção market fills this place every Sunday with artisans, antique dealers, and locals gathering to share mate tea and browse handmade goods.
The park is easily accessible from multiple sides and offers spaces for walking, paddle boating, and relaxing. Different areas have different purposes, so planning your route helps you find what interests you most.
The park holds thousands of trees including California palms, jacaranda, and ipê-roxo, creating a natural refuge in the city center. This abundance of tree species is something many visitors overlook when exploring the grounds.
