The Cine Theatro Capitólio stands at the intersection of Demétrio Ribeiro Street and Borges de Medeiros Avenue, featuring ornate relief decorations on its exterior walls.
Engineer Domingos Rocco designed this theater, which opened its doors on October 12, 1928, during a period when ten new cinema venues emerged in Porto Alegre.
The venue maintains an audiovisual collection of Rio Grande do Sul and presents regular screenings of documentaries, feature films, and educational programs.
The theater operates Tuesday through Friday from 9 AM to 9 PM, weekends and holidays from 2 PM to 9 PM, offering wheelchair accessibility.
After its renovation in 2006, the theater transformed into a cultural center with a 164-seat cinema, multimedia projection room, café, and documentation center.
