Balneário Gaivota

Balneário Gaivota is a coastal municipality in Santa Catarina with approximately 49 smaller beaches and several freshwater lagoons along the Atlantic coast. The area stretches across about 23 kilometers of shoreline with varied coastal landscapes.

The municipality was established in 1995 through separation from the neighboring town of Sombrio, marking a turning point in local development. This change was driven by the expansion of fishing communities and growing economic activities in the region.

Residents maintain a strong connection to the sea and organize regular beach volleyball tournaments and local celebrations throughout the year. These activities show how community life is deeply rooted in coastal traditions.

Areias Claras beach stands out with its bright sand and clear water, representing one of the more distinctive coastal stretches in the region. This area is known locally for its natural appearance and accessibility.
