Parque Lage, Public park in Jardim Botanico, Brazil.
Parque Lage is a public park in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, centered around an early 20th-century mansion. The building features classical columns, arches, and a central courtyard with a pool, surrounded by gardens and forested hills.
Industrialist Henrique Lage and his wife Gabriella Besanzoni hired Italian architect Mario Vodret in the 1920s to redesign the residence. The property later became a public park and now hosts art activities.
A school of visual arts operates inside the building, hosting workshops and exhibitions of contemporary work. Brazilian artists and students use the historic rooms regularly for classes and public displays.
The grounds open daily at 8 in the morning and are accessible through several paths leading to different areas. A café on the ground floor of the mansion offers breaks during the visit.
The water surface in the courtyard reflects the statue on Corcovado Mountain behind the building, creating a well-known photographic composition. Visitors often position themselves at the edge of the pool to capture both elements in one frame.
