Igarapé-Miri

Igarapé-Miri is a municipality in Pará that develops around rivers and creeks flowing through forested areas. Settlements are scattered along these waterways rather than concentrated in one place.

The municipality was established as an independent administrative region in 1993 following separation from a neighboring jurisdiction. This change allowed local communities along the rivers to govern themselves.
