Réserve de Wonga Wongué

The Wonga Wongue Reserve is a large protected area on Gabon's northwest coast that combines sand plateaus, forests, savannas, and mangroves in a diverse landscape. Along the Atlantic shoreline, wetlands and white sand beaches create habitats for numerous animal species.

The Gabonese government established this area as a Presidential Reserve in 1976 to protect its diverse wildlife and natural ecosystems. This official designation marked an early effort to safeguard the region's natural heritage.
