Piton Ramond

Piton Ramond is a mountain summit in Réunion rising to approximately 2,200 meters, characterized by volcanic rock formations and shifting vegetation zones across its slopes. The landscape transforms noticeably as the altitude increases, revealing different plant communities and terrain features.

The summit took its name from French botanist Julien Ramond, who explored Réunion's plant life during the 18th century. His field work helped establish early botanical knowledge of the island.

Local hiking associations regularly organize guided tours to Piton Ramond, sharing knowledge about native plants and geological formations with participants.

Marked trails from Bourg Murat follow the GR R2 route toward the summit, providing clear pathways for hikers of varying ability. Weather conditions can change rapidly at this elevation, so it is wise to bring wind and rain protection.
