Kuta, Coastal district in Badung regency, Indonesia.
Kuta is a coastal district in Badung regency on the western side of Bali. It extends across five villages along the shoreline and also includes the area around the international airport.
The area was once a fishing village that began to change during the 1970s. With the arrival of travelers from abroad, it developed into a major destination for tourism.
Local artisans maintain workshops throughout the district, producing traditional Balinese textiles, wood carvings, and ceremonial offerings for temples.
Ngurah Rai International Airport sits in the Tuban area and serves as the main entry point into Bali. From there, the different coastal areas and villages of the district are just a short drive away.
The district has a population composition unusual for Bali with a sizeable Muslim community. In 2020, over 18,000 Muslim residents lived together with the Hindu majority in this coastal zone.
