Blenduk Church, Protestant church in Old Town, Semarang, Indonesia.
Blenduk Church is an octagonal house of worship located in the Old Town district of Semarang, featuring a large copper dome as its main roof. Two square towers with smaller domes frame the entrance, and the entire structure rests on a system of 32 steel support beams.
Construction began in 1753 when Dutch settlers built this house of worship to serve their growing community in the port city. When a separate Catholic facility opened in Gedangan, the building became home to Protestant congregations alone.
The name comes from Dutch words describing its round shape, reflecting how European settlers named buildings in their new surroundings. This place has long served as a gathering point where different communities came together for worship and community events.
This house of worship sits in the historic quarter and is accessible on foot, with parking available nearby for those arriving by car. Services take place on Sundays, so visitors should be respectful during active worship and dress appropriately when entering.
Inside, original wooden benches with woven rattan seats have been preserved since the building's early days. Above them sits a silent Baroque pipe organ from the 1700s, no longer playable but still showing the skilled craftsmanship of its makers.
