Gunung Telomoyo, Stratovolcano in Central Java, Indonesia.
Gunung Telomoyo is a stratovolcano in Semarang that rises 1,894 meters above sea level and sits south of Soropati. Its slopes are covered in dense vegetation with trails winding through tropical growth and volcanic rock formations made of andesite.
The volcano formed during the Holocene on the southern flank of Soropati, which collapsed during the Pleistocene. This geological origin shaped the current formation and surrounding terrain.
Local communities near Mount Telomoyo maintain traditional agricultural practices on the fertile volcanic slopes, cultivating crops at different elevations.
Visitors reach the mountain through base camps in Pandean Village, where motorcycle transport helps with the narrow and steep road sections. Good fitness is helpful for the hike, as the paths pass through uneven terrain.
The summit offers views of five surrounding mountains: Ungaran, Andong, Sumbing, Sindoro, and Prau. This panorama makes the spot popular with paragliders who launch from here regularly.
