Jakabaring

Jakabaring is a district along the Musi River in Palembang encompassing neighborhoods such as Delapan Ulu, Silaberanti, and Tuan Kentang. The area combines residential zones with large sports facilities that spread across relatively flat terrain.

The district was created in 2016 through the division of the neighboring administrative zone Seberang Ulu I. This administrative split allowed the sports facilities and residential areas to be managed independently.

Local communities practice traditional water activities on the Musi River that reflect maritime connections of the region. These water-based pursuits remain part of daily life and social gatherings for residents living along the riverbanks.

A rapid transit rail system connects the sports complex directly to central Palembang, making it straightforward to reach the venues by public transportation. The flat terrain across the area makes it easy to navigate on foot or by bicycle between different neighborhoods.

The district houses an international sports complex that has hosted several major multisport events. These facilities have shaped the character of the area and continue to draw national and international visitors.
