Batang Hari

Batang Hari is an administrative regency in Jambi Province on Sumatra. It consists of multiple districts with Muara Bulian serving as the main administrative hub and covers an area of rolling forested terrain.

The regency was significantly reorganized in 1999 when a portion separated to form the new Muaro Jambi Regency. This restructuring followed national administrative reforms that advanced decentralization across Indonesia.

The districts of Batang Hari maintain traditional Indonesian administrative structures called kecamatan, each managing multiple villages within their boundaries.
