Pacet

Pacet is a mountain district in East Java stretching across roughly 20 villages at an elevation of about 675 meters, nestled between Mount Welirang and Mount Penanggungan. The area sits within Mojokerto Regency with terrain that rises and falls across its settlements.

The area grew from an agricultural hub and was once one of East Java's largest garlic growing regions, surpassed only by the city of Batu. This farming heritage shaped the region's economy and settlement patterns for many generations.

Each village here celebrates traditional Javanese festivals throughout the year, mixing local customs with regional ceremonies that remain central to community life. These observances shape how people gather and mark important moments together.

Getting to this area requires a private vehicle using the Waru or Mojosari routes, since the mountains have minimal public transportation. Allow extra time for travel, as the roads wind through hills and connections remain limited.

The area draws visitors with natural hot springs that were relocated to safer sites following a 2002 incident and remain popular attractions today. These thermal facilities have become a main reason for visits from nearby cities like Surabaya.
