Nagekeo Regency, Administrative regency in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.
Nagekeo Regency is an administrative region on Flores Island, bordered by the Flores Sea to the north and the Savu Sea to the south. It spans seven districts with South Aesesa serving as the central hub where local services and governance are coordinated.
This regency was established in early 2007 when it separated from Ngada Regency as an independent administrative division. The split was made to improve regional governance and services across East Nusa Tenggara province.
Two main ethnic groups live here: the Nage people occupy the southern areas while the Keo people have settled the northern districts. Their different traditions shape how communities celebrate, build homes, and organize daily life throughout the region.
Start your visit at South Aesesa where local information and services are available. Roads connecting the main districts are generally accessible by car, though paths to smaller villages can be rough and muddy during the rainy season.
Rii Taa Island within the region features an unusual pink-colored beach that dramatically changes size with the tides. The shoreline transforms from a small patch at high tide to a much larger expanse at low tide, creating a striking natural display.
