Stromlo, Administrative district in Australian Capital Territory, Australia
The Stromlo district extends across 1200 hectares of land near Weston Creek and Molonglo Valley, featuring mountainous terrain and natural waterways.
The Mount Stromlo Observatory, established in 1924, conducted astronomical observations from 1911 until severe damage from the 2003 Canberra bushfires.
The Stromlo Forest Park hosts international mountain biking championships and provides extensive trails for cyclists, runners, and equestrian enthusiasts.
Visitors can access multiple facilities including a criterium cycling circuit, pump track, cafe, bike rental services, and 50 kilometers of mountain biking trails.
The district contains ignimbrite formations from Laidlaw Volcanics dating to the upper Silurian period, overlaying Deakin Volcanics rhyodacite on lower slopes.
