Berowra Waters Inn, Waterfront restaurant in Berowra Waters, Australia.
Berowra Waters Inn is a contemporary restaurant housed in a sandstone building with glass louvre windows and corrugated tin roof positioned directly on Berowra Creek. Extensive glazed surfaces frame views of the water, and the interior flows naturally between dining areas and outdoor spaces overlooking the waterway.
The site shows evidence of habitation dating back 10,000 years through Aboriginal midden remains discovered in the area. By the 1930s a guest house had been established on the location, which later transformed into the restaurant that operates today.
The restaurant features Australian ingredients through set-price tasting menus that blend French cooking methods with local food traditions. Seasonal regional products take center stage in dishes that reflect contemporary approaches to familiar flavors.
The restaurant is accessible only by private ferry or seaplane since it sits on the water with no road access to the site. The ferry service operated by the establishment provides the main transport option for visitors arriving by conventional means.
The building was designed by Glenn Murcutt, an architect who won the prestigious Pritzker Prize for his work. Few public restaurants can claim to be housed in a structure created by a laureate of this international architecture award.
