Byron Bay Post Office

The post office building features a symmetrical single-storey design with timber-framed weatherboard cladding and a hipped corrugated steel roof at Jonson Street.

Established in March 1888 as a receiving office, the current structure was built in 1896 for £464 by local builders before opening in March 1897.

The post office maintains its position as a central communication hub in Byron Bay, representing the architectural style of late-Victorian and Federation-era design.

The facility operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering standard postal services and information about local events to residents.

The building underwent significant modifications in 1916, including a central gabled extension, and expanded from Jonson Street to Fletcher Street before later separation.
