Thai Town, Thai neighborhood in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, US.

Thai Town extends for six blocks along Hollywood Boulevard between Normandie Avenue and Western Avenue in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, and is filled with restaurants and specialty shops selling Thai products. The area is marked by golden kinnari statues at its borders that identify this neighborhood.

The Los Angeles City Council officially designated this area as Thai Town in 1999, recognizing the strong Thai community presence in the region. This formal recognition was a turning point for the neighborhood and helped establish it as a distinct cultural center.

The neighborhood comes alive each April with Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year festival, featuring music, food, and a parade along Hollywood Boulevard. This celebration draws visitors and shows how the local community keeps its cultural traditions at the center of daily life.

Visitors can reach this neighborhood via the Metro B Line subway at Hollywood/Western station or several Metro Local bus routes that serve the area. The location is easy to access, and walking is the best way to explore the shops and restaurants along the main streets.

This neighborhood received federal recognition in 2008 as one of five designated Asian Pacific Islander neighborhoods across the entire United States. This national distinction highlights its importance and the role this community plays in Los Angeles.
