UC Irvine Medical Center is a hospital in Irvine with seven stories and 144 beds, operating a 24-hour emergency room with 20 treatment spaces. The facility includes more than ten operating rooms, advanced imaging technology including AI-powered MRI machines, and specialized clinics for cancer, autism, and digestive health.
The hospital opened recently and was designed as one of the first fully electric hospitals in the United States. The site was part of a longer development in which the Chao family and other donors invested over 50 million dollars since 1995 to establish this health facility and a specialized cancer center.
The hospital is located on Jamboree Road in Irvine and is easy to reach. It offers parking with various options, including valet service starting October 2025, and clear signage with staff available to help with directions.
The hospital is the first of its kind in the United States to run completely on electricity, producing no emissions from conventional power sources. The building was designed to LEED Platinum standards and integrates terraces and gardens that connect patients and visitors with nature to support recovery.
