Superstar Limo, Dark ride at Disney California Adventure, United States
Superstar Limo was an indoor attraction at Disney California Adventure in California that moved guests in limousine-shaped cars through cartoon-like sets. The track featured animated figures and video screens that attempted to recreate a simplified version of the entertainment industry.
The attraction opened in February 2001 and closed in January 2002 after guests responded poorly to the concept. The original plan included a high-speed paparazzi chase, but that design was reworked after Princess Diana's death in 1997.
The ride incorporated multiple celebrity caricatures, including Joan Rivers, Regis Philbin, and Cindy Crawford, representing Hollywood entertainment personalities of the early 2000s.
The attraction was located in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section and operated for less than one year. Visitors moved through enclosed spaces in slow-moving vehicles that were suitable for all ages.
The building and vehicles were later reused for Monsters Inc Mike & Sulley to the Rescue, which opened in 2006. The new attraction kept the same ride structure but changed all the decorations and theme completely.
