Villa Arabesque is a large residential property in Puerto Marquez with 28 rooms, including nine guest bedrooms distributed across separate buildings throughout the grounds. The estate features three swimming pools, a tennis court, a private beach section, and an on-site nightclub with capacity for large gatherings.
The property was built between 1978 and 1982 for an Italian baron and later became a location for major international film productions. Its appearance in these films brought it fame beyond its role as a private residence.
The architecture weaves marine motifs into its modern design through shells and fish-inspired forms throughout the spaces. These elements create a visual dialogue between the building and its seaside location that visitors notice in different areas.
The grounds are arranged across multiple levels connected by private pathways and terraces between the different areas. The slopes and elevation changes mean comfortable footwear is essential, and pathways can be slippery during wet weather.
A private cable railway connects the main residence directly to the private beach, eliminating the need to walk down the steep terrain. Although this distinctive system is not currently operational, it remains a testament to the elaborate infrastructure originally built for the property.
