Laguna Brava

The water body extends over 6 kilometers in length and 1.2 kilometers in width, with a surface area of 3.8 square kilometers.

The land surrounding the lake became a point of dispute in 2000 between local indigenous communities and American landowners seeking to establish a nature reserve.

The Chuj Mayan communities maintain strong connections to the lake, using its resources for traditional fishing and gathering activities throughout generations.

Visitors can access the lake through three entry points: El Aguacate, Yalambojoch, and San José Frontera, with El Aguacate offering the most developed facilities.

The lake features three distinct cenotes, each displaying different water colors: Cenote Verde, Cenote Azul, and Cenote Transparente.
