Provincial Viaduct, Cable-stayed bridge in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
The Provincial Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge in Bucaramanga featuring two tall concrete pillars supporting the main span. The structure spans across a valley to link different neighborhoods and allow traffic to bypass the lower areas of the city.
Construction of the viaduct began in the early 2010s to address growing traffic demands in the city. Its completion in 2015 marked a major milestone in Bucaramanga's modern infrastructure development.
The structure takes its name from the province it crosses. Residents now use the viaduct every day as part of their regular commute between different areas of the city.
The bridge has two interchange points at different levels, making it easy for vehicles to enter and exit from various directions. The best views of the structure and surroundings can be enjoyed from certain vantage points nearby or while crossing it on foot or by vehicle.
The bridge deck was constructed using a special advancing method where concrete segments were moved outward in sections over the growing structure. This innovative technique allowed the bridge to be built without requiring permanent supports underneath during construction.
