Alfa Planetarium, Science museum and planetarium in San Pedro Garza García, Mexico
The Alfa Planetarium complex includes an interactive science museum, an Omnimax cinema system, and dedicated spaces for temporary scientific exhibitions and events.
The institution opened its doors on October 11, 1978, and operated continuously until September 4, 2020, when it closed due to maintenance requirements.
The facility attracted more than 14 million visitors during its operation, presenting over 500 pieces in permanent exhibitions about science and technology.
Before closure, visitors accessed the planetarium Tuesday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM, with extended hours on weekends starting at 10:30 AM.
The science center contained an aviary within its grounds, combining natural science observations with astronomical and technological exhibitions.
