The Casa Museo Coronel Gregorio Méndez Magaña occupies a traditional 19th-century building with four cedar doors, two windows, and French clay tile roofing.
The museum preserves the birthplace of Colonel Gregorio Méndez Magaña, who led the successful expulsion of French forces from Tabasco in the Battle of Jahuactal in 1863.
The museum exhibits carved jícaras, bone art, and archaeological pieces from Olmec, Chichimeca, Aztec, Tepaneca, and Chontal cultures across six dedicated rooms.
Located 91 kilometers northwest of Villahermosa, the museum opens daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, offering guided tours and educational programs for visitors.
The collection includes captured French army flags, a Toledo sword from 1864, and an English steel cannon from the 19th century.
