Casa Museo Cnel. Gregorio Méndez Magaña

Casa Museo Cnel. Gregorio Méndez Magaña is housed in a traditional 19th-century building featuring four cedar doors, two windows, and French clay tile roofing. The structure showcases local architectural style while containing exhibits dedicated to military history and indigenous cultural heritage.

The museum occupies the birthplace of Colonel Gregorio Méndez Magaña, who led the successful expulsion of French forces from Tabasco. The Battle of Jahuactal in 1863 represented a major turning point in the region's military history.

The museum displays carved jícaras, bone art, and archaeological objects from Olmec, Chichimeca, Aztec, Tepaneca, and Chontal cultures across six rooms dedicated to these traditions.

The museum is located roughly 91 kilometers northwest of Villahermosa and operates daily to receive visitors. Guided tours are available and provide a structured experience through the different exhibition spaces.

The collection includes captured French army flags and a Toledo sword from 1864 that highlight the military importance of the site. An English steel cannon from the 19th century completes this assembly of war-related objects.
