Parque-Museo La Venta, Archaeological museum park in Villahermosa, Mexico.

The Parque-Museo La Venta is an outdoor museum setting in Villahermosa displaying more than 30 ancient monuments spread across landscaped grounds. The collection includes carved altars, standing stone slabs, and colossal head sculptures created by an early Mesoamerican people.

The site was founded in 1958 following the discovery of ancient remains by researchers at a previously undisturbed ceremonial location. These rescue efforts preserved sculptures dating back more than 3000 years.

The site displays carved stone works from the Olmec civilization that represent rulers and spiritual meanings. Visitors can explore these ancient creations set among trees and water, understanding how this society gave importance to monumental art.

The grounds spread across spacious terrain with pathways connecting the displays, making for an easy walking experience. Wear comfortable shoes and expect warm, humid weather during your visit.

The museum offers a dedicated section where blind visitors can touch and explore the stone works directly. This hands-on access to ancient monuments is rare in archaeological museums.
